Blackwater in deep

Blackwater USA: another disgusting piece to the ruthless, heartless puzzle of why we're not getting anywhere in (or out of) Iraq.
You've heard about it in newspapers, magazines and on TV. It's been criticized, speculated and analyzed. And now it comes to America's Finest City. I'm almost as appalled as when I heard that a Marine recruiting center was created in Berkeley.
I know I live in a naval city and all, but come on! I thought Mayor Sanders said he wants to clean up the city- not allow the trash in.
Well turns out that him along with the San Diego City Attorney didn't want Blackwater to build their training facility on 220 acres, 45 miles East of San Diego. Blackwater USA sued, being the scum that it is, and got its rotten way. District Court Judge Marilyn Huff ordered the city on June 4th to permit the induction of Navy sailors into the facility.
It's amazing the immense power and impact that one judge can have. The fact that one person had the ultimate say in what happens to a city, although the city's mayor, attorney and majority of citizens are in opposition. It blows my mind.
But the battle to give Blackwater the boot isn't over.
A protest was held on June 11 in spite of Blackwater, and successfully a lot of people were reportedly there (see pictures here). I, unfortunately, was in Newport Beach and unable to attend.
Protests have been common in the past year because of the construction plans, but now that the facility is in place, we must really make our voices heard.

If you're against Blackwater spreading their filth and appalled at their violent and unethical part in the war, please share your disapproval:
E-mail your Representative
Tell Blackwater what you really think of the company

Also, if you live in San Diego County, keep a close eye out on Craigslist for any more protest dates. I'm sure there will be many more to come. Protesters were quoted by reporters claiming that they're not giving up on ridding Blackwater from San Diego.
That's the determinism I like to hear, because this is one organization we don't need in California. We must rid this country of it's corruption, one organization at a time.
